2009-11-20 Horrible Doctor
To the last person that commented, I am so sorry for your loss.  Did you contact the medical board?  You really should report him and his incompetent office.

I am currently trying to get my embryos transferred from Dr. Gelety's office, so I can move them to Dr.Hutchison's office.  They are holding them hostage, saying that I owe them money that I do not owe.  Their whole office has been very hateful to me since I made my decision.

I too was pregnant, but had an early miscarriage.  I was over medicated and eneded up being rushed to the ER with severe OHSS and bleeding. he went ahead with the implantation and I lost the baby.

Please report any wrongdoings from his office --guest

My husband and I have been going to Dr.G for almost a year now. I ended getting pregnant quickly with minumum drugs, however for the past two months of being pregnant I was having very bad abdominal pains. So bad that it brought me to my kness, and hurt to the point of throwing up. I address this to him, and he simply past it off as bad gas. I looked right in the eyes and said Im in a lot of pain and I know its not gas! He sent me home with Tylenol with Codine. Shortly after that I had to be rushed in the ambulance from home because I could not take it anymore. So long story short, I had a tubical pregnancy that ruptured my tube. So I lost my child and my tube. As I sit in the post sugery room Dr. G walks in and asks me what happend? I was drugged up and in pain and very upset with him.  In previous ultra sounds he claimed he saw the sac in the uterus. Never found the heart beat though. You kinding me with this guy. He does not want to listen to you. So now thinking in our minds with all we've been through with him he owes us so we stayed with him. Now IVF is the only way I can have a child. After the first cycle failing Im now on my second. He told us the wrong count of our embryos. We waited an hour past my scheduled appointment and put us in a room for another half hour til the procedure was actually done. With everyone rushing we get through it without a say of how many embryos we put in. They were already thawed since that morning. So in my opinon this place takes away from any kind of beautifullness that this can possible even have. Ive waited way over an hour to been seen and have our  questions either unanswered or shoved aside. I wish they wouldnt run that place like fast food. I hate it there and hate having to sit there sometimes 2-3 a week. I cringe when I walk in so fake and just want money. --guest

My husband and I just met Dr. Gelety and the staff and were very pleased. He was professional and the staff had called me with my blood results by the time I got home.

We are very unhappy with our experience with Dr. Gelety. We tried once, and in our case his 'Long Lupron' protocol did not get too much of a response, so we talked to him and he basically used the exact same protocol again. He did not change anything and of course we got the same bad response. Also he has you use the hip shots much longer than any other IVF doctor we've talked to .. I call them horse needles. It is archaic and there are better methods out there. His office never called us once with lab results, despite promising they would. We ALWAYS had to call them after waiting a day or so to see if they'd call.

Very sloppy. Stay away. We are now going to a doctor in Scottsdale, as my wife did not feel good about the 'other' doctor in town. We love our new one. New protocol, fewer horse needle shots, and very upfront about our chances." --guest

2008-07-22 No, you're wrong
Dr. Gelety has the best success rate for IVF in Tucson.  We went to the "other" fertility doctor in town first, and after 3 unsuccessful rounds and a hugely obscene amount of $$$, we were told that our only option was an egg donor or adoption.  After one round with Gelety, a pregnancy, and now a cute, sharp, active one year old.  The Medical Board in AZ is out of control. They answer to no one, and that's unfortunate." --guest

Many are familiar with Dr. Gelety's work ethic. Unfortunately, the Board sanction was overturned by the Superior Court reportedly because of how the decision was worded.  You are certainly not the first person to say you changed doctors and found Gelety to be wrong about your fertility situation.  It makes one wonder if treatment is to truly benefit the patient or to maximize his bottom line. --Guest" --guest

I don't know if Dr. Gelety's office is intentionally difficult to work with or just incompetent.  Given his recent board sanction, I'm guessing the latter.  His office lost my test results multiple times, didn't return my calls, refused to explain treatment and acted offended when I asked questions.  When I went to another doctor, it took THREE MONTHS to get my records from them.  Now I'm finding out that I was misdiagnosed-he was recommending surgery or expensive IVF as my only options, when neither of those are necessary!  Infertility is anguishing enough without having to deal with a doctor like Dr. Gelety." --guest
