2007-11-18 Tasty Mexican Dining
Lunched at Pico de Gallo last Saturday with family. There's a wait on the weekends - but I'd be suspicious of any restaurant that didn't have a wait at lunchtime on Saturday. A carne asada combination plate (chopped steak, refried beans and rice) and pollo asado combinacion satisfied were up to the usual high quality. We also ordered the restaurant's namesake - a Pico de Gallo, literally 'Pick of the Rooster' - a cup of fresh fruit normally topped with spicy chile pepper. But since the kids wanted to share, we opted to have no spices added. Fresh slices of mango, coconut, pineapple and watermelon were shared by all of us from one $3.95 cup. For desert, we walked across the parking lot to get hand made icecream from Raspados, the colorful building just to the north of the restaurant. All in all, a highly recommended Tucson dining experience! --gv
