help there is VERY RUDE. They also will not help you if you have neighbors who are hoarding cats-- we can't use our yard because of cat pee and poop from a neighbor who has over 20 cats. They told us if they come out on an excess waste call, that we can be fined for the neighbor's cat mess in our yard. --guest

I would not take my cat to the Pima Animal Control if you are hoping to have them adopted. Also if you have lost a cat and you find that is where it has been takin,do not get your hopes up it will still be alive. My cat Smokey was taken by my cruel landlady there. She told them it was a stray. My cat had a micro-chip.They did not bother checking to see if it had a micro-chip.Insead they killed him right away.Very sad. Then when we finally found out he had been takin there,we went right away. They told us he had not been takin there.A week later we finally got the paperwork from our cruel landlady. She said she had called and he was still alive. We rushed down there hoping to get him back.We waited two hours for them to bring him out.Instead of bringing him out, they told us he had been killed. We were devistated. My little girl,my husband and I were in tears. They could not tell us that when we first had went there.Instead they acted like we were crazy and were very rude to us.They should have to check for a micro-chip every time an animal is brought in,but they do not. They do not care about animals. To them it is just an inconvience. They should at least keep the animal for a day, instead of having them killed the second they come in.If they would have waited 24 hours we would have our blue russian cat with us today. We truly loved him and he loved us.I would not wish this type of situation on anyone. That is why I am writing this,to let everyone know how the Pima Animal Control can and will treat animals. They are very cruel and heartless.I do not know if they treat dogs the same, but I know for a fact this is how they treated my cat.Like he was nothing. He was a beautiful clean cat,and did not look or act like a stray.I hope whoever has been through this would agree strongly with me.Thank you for reading my story. It is a very sad one.Sincerely,Christina S." --guest
2007-05-27 healthy puppies
We just adopted an adorable lab mix pup from the pound, he's young (about 8 wks) neutered and healthy. When we took him to our vet she told us that the pound is doing much, much better this year keeping infectious disease under control by quickly adopting out puppies and sending sick dogs straight to the vet. Apparently last year they had a lot of pups die unnecessarily so this year they are really on top of it.
Kudos as well to the on-site Animal Rescue Foundation volunteers, one of the ARF folks helped us when we got our pup and she was just friendly and helpful as could be. (Unlike the SAFE volunteer we dealt with at Petsmart, but that's another story). --testgv
