The Kick-Off event for Tucson Youth Week will be a community-wide celebration in Himmel Park. Approximately 1,000 people will gather to recognize Tucson youth for positive contributions they have made to the community. One highlight of the event will be the Community Message Board, displaying over 300 4" x 4" squares from Tucson Youth Week nominees, containing their personal message to the community.
Program highlights include:
• Tucson Youth Week Proclamation
• Unveiling of the Community Message Board
• Celebrity autographs
• An inspirational speaker (Pima County Attorney Barbara LaWall)
• A youth activist speaker
• Poetry reading by finalists in the Spoken Word and Poetry Contest
• Drawing for prizes, music, food and drink
