Comments, Notes and News:
Tucson Community School has an amazing parent-child ratio - 2 teachers + 2 parent volunteers for a class of 12-18 kindergarteners. Its a community co-op that has been around since 1948 and does not have charter status for the kindergarten, but they have enough donations that tuition can be free (not even need-based) for your child. Diana Hill, the director, just told me they have about 6 spots open in the kindergarten for fall 2008.
This is a great option for homeschooling parents who want some school experience for their child. High parent involvement in the classroom and in the school community. Also its only half-day kinder.
My daugther went here and I could not recommend it more highly. Caring, creative environment, learn by doing, kids learn to be independent and to get along, be self-motivated. My daughter loved it here." --guest
My daughter absolutely loved all three years of TCS. It is a real parent co-op, which makes it into a community as much as a school. Founded in 1950, almost all the enrollment is by word of mouth. This is a truly amazing school." --guest
