2008-08-26 Wonderful Vet
I'm sorry that my first interaction with Dr. Fike was likely to be my last for some time. I will try to keep the story short: after a long decline due to arthritis, my 14+ yo dog was finally unable to walk or go to the bathroom and was in bad shape, and it was time to say goodbye. i had been trying to plan ahead for this moment but of course it came on a weekend and my other housecall vet that i had used "does not turn on her phone on the weekend." Someone had forwarded me Dr. Fike's phone number in conjunction with the info for "Small Animal Services" run by another lovely woman named Dorothy who came to take my dog after he had passed. Anyway, I called Lee early on a Sunday morning, desperately hoping that I wouldn't have to take my dog to be euthanized in a sterile vet office somewhere and have his last hours be full of physical struggle and anxiety. Dr. Fike called me back within an hour, and arranged to come to my house later that morning. From the moment i talked to him on the phone to when he left the house, he couldn't have been more kind, compassionate, and reassuring. He is clearly someone who loves animals, has deep compassion and respect for them, and as hard as it was to say goodbye to my beloved old friend, I couldn't have asked to have a better person there with me to help end his suffering. Truly. He was really wonderful and I am very thankful. I wish I had known about him a long time ago! " --guest
2007-05-04 Excellent vet
I'm happy to recommend Dr. Fike for house call vet service. He is obviously committed to the animals in his care, whether performing a routine physical or working to resolve a chronic problem. He also listens carefully to his "human" clients and thoroughly explains treatment options. I was lucky to have learned about Dr. Fike through a friend, and for karma's sake, thought I ought to pass the word along. " --guest
