| 2009-02-15 Alice we miss you http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/280333 Alice Papcun was just an amazing person, a warm , wonderful unique woman who even when she was in pain near the end of her life could always find a kind word for a child and would always still make the effort to consider carefully and respond to anything a friend said. Simply, absolutely honest and direct, she worked hard all her life to stand up for what she believed - to help defend others rights. I couldn't believe the petty nasty comments on the starnet site. Those people didn't even know Alice! How dare they use Alice's passing as their platform to make snide remarks and overgeneralizations. Dear god, I miss her. I know these last years were difficult and she told me she was ready to go, but selfishly, I wish she didn't have to go yet. Peace be with you Alice." | add comment |

They do not deal in good faith nor do the respect customers who have a complaint. They directly belittle and laugh at the customer. Most of them belong to the same family so they all behave in the same rude way. Do not use them for your real estate business. In this current market, customers should demand the best professional and most courteous agents. | add comment |

At the same time, we have been way over budget for food purchasing every month since our fiscal year began July 1st. So.... consider this an urgent request to see whether you, and any group or congregation you are a part of, would consider organizing a short-term food drive over the next couple of months. It's very easy to do (check the website www.communityfoodbank.org, and check on "donate food" for easy instructions). We can provide you with collection boxes and posters, and if you collect too much to bring in yourself, we would be happy to arrange for a pick up ...read more... | add comment |

| 2011-11-26 Mercer Micro Horse back riding lessons! My experience was a great one! It wasn’t like all those silly horse back riding lessons where all you get to do is get led around by a rope and they cost 80 dollars. We got our horses all saddled up and started riding around. The lady who taught us was named Amy. She is a real friendly lady who could teach anyone to ride a horse. The horse I rode was named Chief; he used to be a mustang. I was first a little worried about riding, but once I knew how to do it,it was so fun! I remember the first thing my horse wanted to do was eat, so he went to the bush and started eating. Finally after a little munching I got him to listen to me. Then we headed out to a trail. Later we headed back to the barn because it was getting dark. The next time we came for my b-day. ...read more... | add comment |

| 2009-02-15 Neighborhood Work Parties? With all the negative economic news, I wonder if more people are taking change into their own hands. Any neighborhood work parties organizing out there? Here is some motivation, maybe: What is it that makes us 'rich' or 'poor'? If part of the answer is where you live, what kind of neighborhood you live in, then no need to wait for the economy to turn around - you can make yourself 'richer' by just organizing with your neighbors to improve your community. This isn't just fluffy stuff either - if you really manage to improve the neighborhood, your home values go up, and that's hard cash. | 2011-11-27 The Happy Turkey Project Well thanksgiving has already past by a couple days so remember this for next thanksgiving! When my family first got a pet turkey we have no idea how sweet turkeys really are. We bought two turkeys we named one Jeffrey (the boy) and Zucchini (girl). We also bought some baby chickens to. The turkeys used to fall asleep in your arms they looked so cute when they did this. They also have great personalities I remember a time when Jeffrey and the other chickens where about to be feed and we happened to be feeding them some grapes as a snack. Jeffery ran to the grape and stuffed one in his mouth and ran with a trail of chickens behind him. He accidentally chocked on a grape since the grape was so big compared to his neck. We had to pick him up and get the grape out of his mouth. Are ch ...read more... | add comment |
| 2012-01-10 The Islamic Center Of Tucson 520 4098946 The Islamic center of Tucson is the main Muslim mosque and center of the Tucson area. It is located near the University of Arizona on first street. I have been here only a few months and when I came to the mosque I felt very welcome like I belonged. The women were very friendly to me and that felt good to me since I had just arrived in Tucson from a foreign country and was feeling very alone. I grew up in the Usa but lived in a predominately Muslim country for a few years. Being back in the Usa has been very difficult and I have experienced allot of culture shock since I felt so accustomed to living in a Muslim community for so long where I had many friends. Coming to the Islamic center of Tucson helped me to feel that there was some community here of practicing Muslims. The commun ...read more... | add comment |

| 2009-11-27 Vote for La Madera Play Day to get Free Play Stuff for a Tucson Park http://playday.kaboom.org Please help La Madera park receive free play equipment from a grant from KaBOOM! Go to http://playday.kaboom.org and vote for La Madera's Play Day. With the budget crunch in out city budget, seems like we should take any chance we can to get new play equipment for Tucson kids! KaBOOM! is an interesting organization. I thought at first it would be a playset manufacturer, but not so - its a nonprofit organization with a mission of getting safe fun places to play near every kid. They'll give free advice to communities and have a toolkit on the site for getting organized to build a playground. I wonder, if we don't get the grant, if they can help in some other way. Do we have the resources locally to build shade structures in a community building day? I'm thinking that this year ...read more... | add comment |
| 2010-03-08 What is your favorite local charity? With tight budgets, our local nonprofit organizations need our support. Readers are asked to post comments here about deserving local nonprofits and why they should receive our donations. Although some large national organizations do a lot of good, others have high administrative overhead that takes up much of their resources. Consider local gifts to organizations run by individuals that fellow Tucsonans know and trust." | add comment |
