Steven The 2009 Fall Beanfest is being held on the weekend of November 7 & 8, 2009 in the west Cochise Stronghold at Sheepshead. As tradition has it, the climbing community provided Beanfest bean burrito potluck dinner will be Saturday evening beginning at 4: 30PM. After dinner there will be the community beaning and some fun evening events. (There may be some climbing events during the day to be announced later). THE POTLUCK: The Beanfest started on Mt. Lemmon somewhere around thirty years ago by a group of climbers that appear to have been university students and friends who had climbed together and then had finished school, had moved away or slowly drifted apart due to the callings of life. One year, they all agreed to bring bean burrito fixings and sides (refried beans, tortillas, chips, salsa, grated cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, sliced onions, liquid refreshment, etc.) enough for them-self and one or two others. This was the beginning of the Beanfest and is the spirit of this Fall 2009 Beanfest. The Bean Master for the 2009 Fall Bean Master is Steven Johnson of Tucson, please contact him at 520 795-1073 to coordinate your additional contributions to the food beyond what is indicated in the "THE POTLUCK:" paragraph. If you have other cooking utensils, eating items (cups, plats, flatware), stoves, tables, etc. that you would like to offer, please contact him to coordinate those items. Also, the Bean Master is looking to the climbing community for monetary assistance with the purchase of the liquid refreshment and the T-shirts printing expenses which tend to be exorbitant. See you there on November 7th & 8th, 2009 for a few days of climbing, fun and socializing.

Alice we miss you
http://www.azstarnet.com/allheadlines/280333
Alice Papcun was just an amazing person, a warm , wonderful unique woman who even when she was in pain near the end of her life could always find a kind word for a child and would always still make the effort to consider carefully and respond to anything a friend said.  Simply, absolutely honest and direct, she worked hard all her life to stand up for what she believed - to help defend others rights.

I couldn't believe the petty nasty comments on the starnet site.  Those people didn't even know Alice!  How dare they use Alice's passing as their platform to make snide remarks and overgeneralizations.

Dear god, I miss her.  I know these last years were difficult and she told me she was ready to go, but selfishly, I wish she didn't have to go yet.  Peace be with you Alice."

Casa Vista Properties

FYI, I think everyone should be aware that this Real Estate company is the most unprofessional company in Tuscon.  They do not deal in good faith nor do the respect customers who have a complaint.  They directly belittle and laugh at the customer.  Most of them belong to the same family so they all behave in the same rude way.  Do not use them for your real estate business.  In this current market, customers should demand the best professional and most courteous agents.

Community Food Bank Needs Help
http://www.communityfoodbank.org
Dear Everyone,

Yesterday, at the monthly staff meeting, I learned that the Food Bank
is gearing up to fill and distribute 50,000 food boxes during the
upcoming holidays for families in need in Southern Arizona! At the same
time, we have been way over budget for food purchasing every month since
our fiscal year began July 1st.

So.... consider this an urgent request to see whether you, and any
group or congregation you are a part of, would consider organizing a
short-term food drive over the next couple of months.  It's very easy to
do (check the website www.communityfoodbank.org, and check on "donate
food" for easy instructions).  We can provide you with collection boxes
and posters, and if you collect too much to bring in yourself, we would
be happy to arrange for a pick up ...read more...
