Notes about Volunteering Opportunities at Animal Sanctuary

We just called up to see if we could volunteer, and Cougar (a vietnam vet and former nurse who runs the sanctuary) said sure, come on down.  That's even with a 6 and a 2 year old, not a problem.  So it wasn't any special open house day, and every pen was clean, all the pigs were clean, all the bird cages had just been changed.  Buttercup, the draft horse retired from giving rides, is in amazingly good condition for a 37-yr old large animal.  All the animals, from horses to pigs to dogs were very affectionate and trusting.

We'll try and come down every week or so, and bring up some supplies from Tropical Kingdom in town for the reptiles.  Cougar said she can use help, she has MS (Multiple Sclerosis) and uses a cane or motorized chair much of the time; she cares for the animals basically from dawn to dusk."
