Slow Family Living has some ideas for de-stressing the holidays.  Some take more time, but that is the whole idea of slow!

For those for whom time is as big or bigger stress than money, why not just skip the shopping and take close family out on a day trip away from the city?

Just think - every additional person not buying stuff makes everyone else feel less guilty.  So in fact, by not buying, you are doing everyone around you a huge favor!  Thank you!

For Jews, well, Hanukah is already over.  But for next year, consider 'gelt-giving' - the original tradition of giving coins to children.  Simple and traditional, plus a few latkes and dreydl play, and you're done.

We finally were seated on the airplane. As the plane took off my older daughter and İ held hands in fear and excitement of the unknown. İ thought to myself there is no turning back now. We are up in the air and are on our way to the middle east or ASİA. Turkey is in Asia. İ thought to myself İ can come back if life does not work out. İt could just be a learning experince for us. İt is so important to understand people from different cultures. İt is important to see many different ways of life to expand ones mind and development as a person.

İ  had a strong desire to meet  my friend Abdul who İ hoped to marry. Some friends as well told me İ  should go even if we only stay for one month. Then at least İ will have had the experie ...read more...

Shapiro: Well, I was brought up in a very conservative Jewish home, and you understand a lot of things, that there was a holocaust and 2700 years of oppression...and yet the prayers say there is a benevolent God.  Logically, this covenant should have brought about a much more peaceful time for my people

And I just didn't buy it, and it was some ...read more...
