MY LİFE İN TURKEY, Part I

İ  never thought i would live my life in a foreign country. İ had dreams of being standed and lost in some foreign country many times in my life. The dream was very frightening. I  have dreamed that İ was in some kind of station or airport and that İ dont have a green card. İ am very confused in the dream because İ cant speak the foreign languge of the country that İ am in. İ have had this dream over and over again. İ  awoke in a sweat because the dream was so scary to me.

İ have allways been afraid of air travel so I never thought I would be travelling to a foreign country. With internet we now live in an international community.  W e never know who we will meet or what connection one might make through internet, and then one may find oneself journeying to a new land and country. We can communicate with so many people from different cultures everywhere now.

İ must say that I had a feeling that İ might move to the middle east. İ did not know where. İt all started when İ met my friend who is now my husband. This made the dream  come alive of coming to Turkeye. He was interested in knowing other people from other cultures like I was. He studied english for many years so we were able to converse on internet. İ did not know the turkish language at all then.  H e told me he wanted me and my two daughters to come to Turkey one day to start a new life, whether he or İ married or not.  İ was a single mother struggling for a long time to finish my education and to be a good mother.

So one day my friend drove us to the San Francisco Airport and we were on our way in April 2008. İ had put off the trip for a few months because İ was afraid of air travel. İ kept feeling like turning back and not going to Turkeye. There was a lot of fear in my heart but something pushed me to go and get on the airplane. My two daughters were 9 and 10 at the time. They were both excited and afraid at the same time. Our plane took of at 9.30  at night. İ  could not beleive we were leaving America. İ had given up my house for rent and left my university education to begin a new life in TURKEY.

To be continued...
