MY LIFE IN TURKEY Part II

We finally were seated on the airplane. As the plane took off my older daughter and İ held hands in fear and excitement of the unknown. İ thought to myself there is no turning back now. We are up in the air and are on our way to the middle east or ASİA. Turkey is in Asia. İ thought to myself İ can come back if life does not work out. İt could just be a learning experince for us. İt is so important to understand people from different cultures. İt is important to see many different ways of life to expand ones mind and development as a person.

İ  had a strong desire to meet  my friend Abdul who İ hoped to marry. Some friends as well told me İ  should go even if we only stay for one month. Then at least İ will have had the experience of Turkeye and living in an İslamic country, even though Turkeye is a secular country.

My daughters were happy when the plane landes in İstanbul after a long flight that was 17 hours. The airport was vewry confusing. Everything is different when going to a different country. Sometimes it is hard to plan for all the differences ahead of time. When travelling to a different culture the details of the way things are done can be so different. My cell phone no longer worked. The pay telephones were very different. İ did not know the Turkish language well. We got our 3 month visas and tryed to find our way out of the airport with all our luggage. Our friends could not come inside the airport to meet us so finding them was confusing.  İt is so interesting how we can be in one place in one moment of time and then be in a completly new land and country in another moment.

Everything was so different. The doors and the way you lock them was different. My daughter lost the key to the door and so we thought  were locked in our room. İ   thought if we cant find the key maybe are friend would have to break the door to get us out. But she find the key beneath some toys she had brought .  İ  sometimes feel as though i am not an adult but a child learning everything all over again.  From this    experience İ  can understand how being a child can be confusing and exciting at the same time when learning everything new.
