Make Way for the 5th Annual Story  Town

Date: Saturday, November 15
Time: 11 am to 4 pm
Where: Jácome Plaza, in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave.
Cost: Free

Each year the plaza in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library transforms into Story Town - where costumed characters from your favorite children's books stroll around and library staff give live performances of beloved children's books. There will be art activities, free books, live music and dancing and more!

This year's featured books include Knuffle Bunny, Baby Rattlesnake, Bark George, Waking Beauty, and Frederick.

Schedule of Events

    * 11 am - Story Town opens
    * 11:15 am - Performance by Summer Thunder, Chinese music
    * 11:45 am - Live performance Knuffle Bunny
    * 12:10 - Live performances of Frederick and Baby Rattlesnake; Art Project #1
    * 12:30 pm - Live performance of Bark George and Waking Beauty; Space Travel with Megascience Meg inside the library
    * 1 pm - Performance by the Wa:k Tab Basket Dancers
    * 1:30 pm - Live performances of Baby Rattlesnake and Bark George; Space Travel with Megascience Meg inside the library
    * 2 pm - Live performance of Waking Beauty; Art Alley Project #2
    * 2:30 pm - Live performances of Knuffle Bunny and Frederick
    * 3 pm - Performance by the Barbea Williams Dance Company
    * 3:30 pm - Parade of characters

This family literacy festival for children ages 3 to 12 is presented by Make Way for Books, an organization that promotes early literacy in limited resource areas of Tucson and southern Arizona, and the Pima County Public Library. This year's event is sponsored by the Tohono O'Odham Nation, the Friends of the Pima County Public Library and KUAT 6.
