A Dinosaur Named SUE - for older kids, but good and very current, told with real detail including the arguments over the bones

Barnum Brown - also detailed, but with good illustrations, my 3-yr old loved this book

Waterhouse - excellent illustrations, also a favorite of both my 3 yr old and 6 yr old.

Dinosaur Hunters - McMullan & Jones - overview of dinosaur hunters since early times, interesting way of leaving out _why_ the first man to propose the existence of dinosaurs was imprisoned!  (around the time of Galileo...)"
