Preseason and season rankings really dont mean much. The REAL rankings are the ones that come out after the playoffs when the dust has settled. Last years Sabino team had me convinced they were the best southern arizona team after they finished the seaoson 10-0. Their first round loss proved the rankings are fun and a nice indicator but really cant tell you much. The REAL rankings are the post playoffs rankings that include a teams playoff run or lack there of.

While we're on the subject, school life is crazy right now, and fun. There is definitely that “end of the semester” feel going on right now. I had to teach my 11th graders for two periods in a row today and, needless to say, I don't really think their hearts were in it. There were tests three days last week, in the morning, as I mentioned earlier, and they will continue this week.
The weekend was fun; we went into Chisinau and played around on the town. We actually ended up going bowling, of all things, which was fun (I also discovered that my bowling skills have digressed quite a bit). Martin, Pat and I also got into a poker games later into the night, both nights in town and I made out pretty well on the second game. It is pretty fun to play with lei because they are the equivalent of ten cents a piece, but we get to play with bills, instead of dimes.... Nice.

The music. Big top bands jammed, man. First up was Calle de Bauche playing Frank Zappa-like music and at least one actual Zappa tune. Next up was Flagrante Delicto, which is one of the coolest phrases to say into a blaring microphone. They, too, had fun with the microphones with their funky harmonies and jazzy jibberish. The Latin sounds of The Jons introduced midnight with their swinging trumpets and sonorous soul. They even put some punch in Auld Lang Syne.

Too many fun seekers jam snowy Flagstaff venues
FLAGSTAFF — The winter wonderland of Flagstaff has became a nightmare for many fun seekers, who have been turned away from the Arizona Snowbowl and a U.S. Forest Service snow play area in recent days because they were jammed.

Golden Eagle Reminds Adults to Designate a Driver | www.tucsoncitizen.com
Tucson, AZ (December 17, 2008) – Music, food, decorations—they’re all part of a great party. But to ensure your holiday party is truly perfect, Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc. and Anheuser-Busch remind adults to make a designated driver part of the plans. Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc. encourages adults to be the designated driver for their group while celebrating the holidays. Adults can thank their favorite designated drivers with humorous electronic thank-you cards, take a “beat-the-clock” text messaging test, and check out other fun and interactive features at www.designateddriver.com. “We’re committed to helping keep our roads safe – especially during the holiday season,” says Kimberly Clements, President at Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc. “This fun and exciting campaign reminds adults to plan ahead by using a designated driver when they’re out celebrating this holiday season.” Adults who commit to be a designated driver will join more than 137 million American adults who have been a designated driver or been driven home by one, according to a 2008 survey conducted by TNS Custom Research. Thanks to efforts like these and increased law enforcement, our nation is making progress in the fight against drunk driving. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk-driving fatalities have declined 38 percent since 1982. Anheuser-Busch is the global industry leader in promoting responsibility. Since 1982, the company and its nationwide network of 600 wholesalers have invested more than $750 million in national advertising campaigns and community-based programs to promote responsible drinking and prevent alcohol abuse. In 2008, for the fifth year in a row, the company ranked first in the beverage industry for social responsibility in FORTUNE magazine’s “America’s Most Admired Companies” and “Global Most Admired Companies.” For more information on these efforts and the progress being made, visit www.beeresponsible.com.
