Arizona sophomore Jamelle Horne has been named Pacific-10 Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 22-28. In an 84-67 win over Kansas last week, Horne had career-high totals of 19 points and 13 rebounds. Horne connected 7-of-13 (.538) field goal attempts and eight of his 13 rebounds were offensive. Horne also had his first career double-double. This season, Horne is averaging 8.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 48.7 percent from the field.

Two people were killed when the car they were in crashed into a utility pole on North Fairview Avenue Dec. 30, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Zachary Bosseler, 18, died in an East Side motorcycle crash on Dec. 20, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Brian Wilson, 24, was killed when he crashed his motorcycle into a sport utility vehicle on Dec. 20, a Tucson police spokesman said.
The skeletal remains of an unidentified man were found about 12 miles west of Marana on Dec. 19, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman said.
Henry J. Wright, 66, died in a scooter crash Dec. 17, a Tucson police spokeswoman said.
A confrontation between a woman and her estranged boyfriend left both of them dead at a Southeast Side storage facility on Dec. 8, a Tucson police spokesman said in a Dec. 9 press release.
A man who suffered "obvious signs of trauma" was found dead by mountain bikers near Madera Canyon on Dec. 7, a Pima County Sheriff's spokeswoman said.
Jennifer Van Kirk, 59, was killed in a crash caused by a hailstorm south of Benson on Dec. 8, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
Jose Daniel Alvarez, 23, and Jesus Martinez Gonzales, 24, were found dead in a wash in a county park west of the Tucson Mountains on Dec. 6, a Pima County Sheriff's spokeswoman said.
Gary Hare, 52, shot and critically wounded his wife before shooting and killing himself in the desert on Dec. 4, a Pima County Sheriff's spokeswoman said.
Andre Pepe-Bruno, 20, was shot dead and his friend wounded during a South Side home invasion Dec. 4, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman said.
