| Beryl Baker, Ward I City Council Candidate http://ElectBerylBaker.tripod.com Beryl Baker, Green Party candidate for City Council, answers our questions below: ------------------------------------------ Q1) What would your first priorities be as a Ward I council member? I would invite the neighborhood leaders and other constituents to meet with me and express their opinions about the issues of the Ward. As a founding member and facilitator of the Santa Cruz South West Neighborhood Association and Desert Voices Coalition, I know how important my neighbors' input can be. I have participated in numerous committees including the Storm Water Management Study Committee (15 years) and Neighborhood Infill Coalition. I was part of the neighborhood team which got the West Branch of the Santa Cruz bought by the County for a conservation area. I am sure the planning an ...read more... | add comment |
| NO to McClusky : lies and distortions I am really steamed about these last minute mailers attacking Fimbres. The Star did an article with research on the attack and it is so clearly a made-up charge. The truth is something like 'a staffer under Fimbres didn't complete some paperwork before his successor took over so the next guy had to finish it.' How does that turn into '$186K disappeared'? I am just disgusted with McClusky. Here is the star link: http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/byauthor/315136 I also asked Fimbres campaign if they wanted to post a response, here is what Mark Kerr the campaign manager sent me from them: ----------------------------------- Contrary to Richard Fimbres' Republican opponent's unfounded, scurrilous and unsubstantiated allegations, he did respond, more than two months ago, to the attacks m ...read more... | add comment |
| Regina Romero, Ward I City Council Candidate Candidate Regina Romero outlines priorities, experience and principles. ------------------- Q1)What would your first priorities be as a Ward I council member? A1)1. Securing funds for our neighborhoods and parks. As Pima County neighborhood reinvestment coordinator, I spent five years working with neighborhoods to help them apply for $3.5 million in local, state and federal funds for improvements such as walking paths, landscaping, traffic circles, lights and parks. We need leaders who can bring the jurisdictions together and leverage their shared resources for our existing neighborhoods. I will work to implement the May 2007 mayor and council-approved Infrastructure Report, which invests in parks and utilities and streetscape for our downtown, and also actively look for capita ...read more... | add comment |
| Rodney Glassman, Ward II Candidate http://rodneyglassman.com City council candidate Rodney Glassman answers our questions below: ------------------------------------------- Q1) What would your first priorities be as a Ward II council member? Providing everyone with an equal seat at the table and tackling our City's issues of water, curbing sprawl, increasing funding for public safety, transportation, investing in seniors and children and creating quality jobs. Overall, taking better care of those of us that are already here. Q2) What do you see as the main need or needs in Ward II? Road conditions and crime are two of the biggest problems in Ward 2 and I believe we need a City Council with strong leadership that will prioritize and begin by investing appropriately in those of us Tucsonans who are already here. Q3) How would you appro ...read more... | add comment |
| Say NO to dirty politics, YES to Fimbres http://www.fimbresforcouncil.com/ bTucson.com supports Richard Fimbres for city council. Well, we support Ulrich and Trasoff as well, but particularly wanted to highlight Richard Fimbres in response to the last minute hit pieces that are appearing in the mail. If the opposing side had important things to say about Fimbres' record, why didn't they bring it out early in the campaign to make it clear to everyone? Maybe because they have unjustified accusations that they want to send out at the last minute in order that Fimbres doesn't have time to respond. From our research, Richard Fimbres is a solid candidate with the depth of experience we need on the City Council and the willingness to address tough budget issues. Make your own choice on Nov 3, but remember to take any last minute accusations with a grain of sa ...read more... | add comment |
