When David Wright, owner of the Congress Gallery, and about a dozen graffiti artists teamed up, the cooperative project benefited both the artists and the owner. The artists wanted to create a memorial to a recently deceased fellow tagger. Wright gave them permission to display their work on the alley side of his building near East 10th Street and North Sixth Avenue. A graffiti artist who called himself "Sketch" worked on his contribution to the wall May 28, 1994. Read more about Tucson's past in Tales from the Morgue at go.azstarnet.com/morguetales. Today's entry is on the Forty Niners Ranch.
