A WONDERFUL SCHOOL ENDING

I am sad to know Turning point might be closing it's doors August 1st 2009.  What an impact this school has made on my child and many others.  She had struggles up to 5th grade with dyslexia, with no help from the public schools.  Just as it stated from the 2006 comment above, the public schools would just pass her along. My daughter was at a 1st grade reading and writing level and struggling with self esteem issues caused by the public schools.  Turning Point gave my daughter confidence, security, and brought my child’s grade level up to a decent level, in just 3 years, and now she enjoys reading and writing and her math has excelled.  My husband is also a past student of Mrs. Von Wald and it's because of her he has excelled in life and has a stable job. Mrs. Von Wald is an amazing human being, she genuinely cares about the children’s well being.  She understands how us parents struggle to keep our children from being loss by the public school systems, especially in these hard economic times.  I pray whoever reads this comment can find it in their heart to assist us parents, children and the staff of Turning point, in keeping this school alive.  Our children need this school and depend on it.  Please help me fight to keep Turning Point from closing it’s doors forever.

Please call the number shown above for any assistance.
Thank you
Nancy Warner

2009-10-25 wonderful? closing of The Turning Point School

I have a son who is developmentally delayed, has A.D.H.D., O.P.D. and epilepsy. With no where to turn, with finding a GOOD education, we tried out The Turning Point.  My son was there for one year, I don't know why we stayed that long. The director was to say the least unfriendly, never smiled ever.  The place was like a boot camp for "special" children.  Instead of being supported, my son was reprimanded for anything and everything.  One example of our BAD experience:  The class my son was in had been given a snack, when finish with his my son was licking his hands.  My son was tramatised when his "teacher" told him "that's gross".  I am not a teacher but have had alot of experience with children both disabled and "typical". Upon hearing of the incident I asked the teacher and the director why the teacher did not simply ask him to go wash his hands.  The experience at The Turning Point was worse than the public school system.  Surprisingly enough the public shools have been more excepting of my son and his sometimes odd behaviors. He was at the Principals office everyday at Turning Point, he has never been to see a Principal in the schools he has attended since. To think I paid $500.00 a month for them to emotionally abuse my son makes me sick to my stomach.  I have to say we are not so sorry to see the school go. Now these parents may realize there are other options that are free of charge and free of abuse. --guest
